What skills are assessed in the writing section of the CAASPP?

The writing section of the CAASPP assesses students' abilities through writing tasks that require essay responses. This evaluation is focused on how well students can organize their thoughts, present arguments or information clearly, and use appropriate language and conventions in written form. Such tasks may include analytical essays, narrative writing, or argumentative essays, allowing students to demonstrate their proficiency in articulating ideas effectively.
